Judith "Judy" Hayes Obituary

Judith Faye Endel Hayes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and servant of God, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on January 27, 2026, in San Diego, California, at the age of 83.

Judy was born on October 22, 1942  in Baytown, Texas, to Howard and Faye Endel. She grew up in Grapeland, Texas, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, where she met the love of her life, Ralph William “Bill” Hayes. Their shared faith and devotion to service became a firm foundation, providing them with a rock on which to build their lifelong partnership.

Judy attended Howard Payne University and later supported Bill as he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, preparing for a life dedicated to ministry. In 1973, answering God’s call to the mission field, Judy and Bill moved to Torreon with their three young children. For more than thirty years, she faithfully served the people of Mexico, sharing God’s love and living out her faith through compassion, teaching, and unwavering commitment to her family and the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph William Hayes, her parents, Howard and Faye Endel, and her brother, Ronald Endel.

Judy is lovingly survived by her brother, Richard Endel; her children, David Hayes and wife Laurie, Julie Mora and husband Jose Luis, and Jimmy Hayes and wife Angie; and her cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth Mora, Judy Silva and husband Daniel, Hilary Foyil, Hannah Roberts and husband Billy, Alexandra Bordages and husband Cameron, and Ethan Hayes and wife Gabi. She also leaves behind several precious great-grandchildren: Giovanni Alva, Annabelle Foyil, Daniel Silva, III, Finneas Hayes, and David Silva who will each carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and family; characteristics she instilled within each of them in their time together.

Committal service will be held at RS Farmer Cemetery on February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jim Salles officiating.

Judy was a two time cancer survivor and a beautiful example of faith in action — a life marked by devotion to her family, her calling, and her continued response to that call. She knew loving the Lord was not all she was called to do, He called her to spread that love to everyone she came in contact with. And she did! We will carry her kindness, wisdom, and steadfast spirit with us as we go. Her humor, continued love for the Lord, and dedication to serve His people will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dulce Ramírez Verduzco, a true and treasured friend who is loved as a member of the family. She made Judy’s time with us on Earth more comfortable, and they are so thankful to her for that. Dulce, estamos eternamente agradecidos. Que Dios te llene de Sus bendiciones.
